It's hard to find a place to begin. I mean the beauty, the elegance, the shape, colour, material, sole, heel...I just don't know where to start! They say a dog is a man's best friend, well shoes are a woman's.

They can either make or break an outfit, dress it up or down. A pair of shoes, like all fashion, says a lot about the woman, or man wearing them however, lets leave the boys out of this one.

All women should have the essentials. A pair of black flats; casually with jeans to the supermarket or to a light brunch with the girls, when your heels are killing you at 4am on a Saturday night or on a maccas run. The black flat is important because, its easy, comfortable, goes with almost (and i stress almost) everything and majority of the time, unless you want some Chanel ballet flats, wont kill your bank account.

Patent black heels; personally, I prefer something with a platform, not only does it make everything more comfortable but the heel can be higher -hello Lady Gaga!- therefore your legs look longer and again, because its black, it goes with so much . Sensible facts aside, its classy sophisticated and adds a certain appeal to the woman, or tranny, wearing it. The patent black heel should be seen, classically, paired with the little black dress, or LBD if you will, but also jeans to a birthday barbeque, or a pant suit.

Military: Ahhh you see now heres a trend I just can't shake. I really hate those rip off boots you see packs of 16 year old teeny boppers wearing around all the time that just shit one the ones you spent your weeks pay on, YEAH SCREW YOU! But then again, they are just so darn practical, and if you get it right you will find yourself the owner of a very nice (NOT SHITTY) pair of military flats. Then comes the military heel. These should be worn as the statement pieces of the outfit because of whatever embellishment your pair has your outfit should not let it clash!

The knee high boot: The essential during winter, it lets you wear a mini and not look like a total slut. I'm not talking about sky high thigh high heels and walking around in a boob top and ripped denim Britney Spears shorts...cos like ew. Think Paris (for God's sake not Hilton!) the city of lurrrvvveee, fashion, Chanel and eiffel tower. Again you can wear it with jeans to go market shopping or on a nice spring day that has a bit of a chill to it. Knee high flat boots, preferably in suede...GET ON IT!

Converse: summer days, when you're all tanned and toned dancing at Big Day Out or Good Vibes. Short shorts and singlets, sunscreen and bikinis you have the outfit now the perfect shoe, I truly believe that Converse sneakers are not a stupid idea. Look at the practicalities; they're comfortable, flat and light weight so the last thing you should really worry about when you're loosing your shit to MIA is your feet.

Clogs: yeah, I don't know if its a fad or if they are here to stay. You know, when I was in Amsterdam a few years ago (by the way I love how I can say that, it really is a beautiful city) I did not see one dutch person that wasn't in character at a windmill museum wearing a pair of clogs. Any how, the trend goes wear them with socks, but they do run the danger of looking funny on legs that are too muscly. Chunky legs and chunky clogs are not a good mix. Think spring time, long hair and Stevie Nicks.

I really do love shoes. Taking them out of the box, new shoe smell, wearing them in an the girls admiring them...ahh shoes you never fail me.
